In Spain, we have a deep tradition of designing and making costumes.

We celebrate Carnival every February, and every city or town prepares parades for Carnival and Major festivities with the collaboration of the local cultural associations.

Citizens participate through these cultural associations to design and build costumes, sculptures, floats, and various street decorations using a variety of materials including fabrics, wood, polystyrene, paper, flowers, cardboard and more.

The magic, the atmosphere, people´s happiness and the creativity has always attracted me, and I have been always promoting it in my social circles by creating original costumes to motivate everybody to participate.

Unfortunately the theatre, dance or film industry wasn’t particularly strong in my home town to allow me to get engaged and make a living from it.

In Spain theatre studies in Costume does not exist, only a Master in Costume Design.

Fortunately, I moved over to London, bursting with film and TV studios,

musical theatres and dance schools, my passion was awaken.

I wanted to make it real.

This photo is from my first carnival in London in 2010, when San Valentin, Chinese New Year and Spanish Carnival dates met in the same weekend in February.

So my friend dressed as San Valentine and I dressed as Chinese New Year ghost to celebrate also the Carnival.
