During this term we saw different trends in different countries like France vs England
English simplicity and austerity vs French flamboyant fashion
I chose the robe a la sac with a very simple style, close to nature and botanic pleasures.
I used a beautiful simple duvet from Ikea, that I will not long use for the half scale project and I still have some spare fabric for a full scale under skirt.
First I made the paniers.

Then I made the petticoat

I had to drape the pleats on the back with the fabric for the sack

Then following the instructions from the book “The cut of women´s clothes” from Norah Waugh, I draped the skirt to the front.
Then the bodice is draped and attached to the back, first an inner bodice which will be closed by lacing on the back.
Second we drape the top-front of the bodice, which we will attach it to the fabric, and then to the inner bodice.
We should´t forget to leave extra fabric on the shoulders of the top fabric bodice to cover them to the back.
Robin: piece of fabric to cover the pleats at the back, like a bias binding.
Stomacher: Embroidered corset protection pinned to the side robin of the bodice.
Foreskirt: Front piece padded and embroidered to pretend to have a very glamorous underskirt. Pinned to side-skirt robins to keep them out and in place, to avoid cover it.

Decoration: Pleated stripes of top fabric, gathered or any other fabric manipulation techniques from that era.
Bows, flowers, connected with nature.
Sleeves: Several layers of top fabric and lace.
